Becoming a United States citizen is a major milestone. It represents stability, opportunity, and a deeper sense of belonging. For many permanent residents, though, the naturalization process feels uncertain. Questions about eligibility, paperwork, interviews, and timelines create stress that doesn’t have to be there.
At Polaris Law Group, we guide individuals through naturalization with clarity and a concrete plan. Whether you’re applying for the first time or have concerns about your eligibility, we help you take this step knowing what to expect.
Request an in-office or virtual consultation with a Lincoln naturalization attorney by calling (402) 383-2698 or messaging us online. We serve clients nationwide from our offices in Lincoln, Chicago, Columbus, and Omaha.
Our Naturalization Representation
Naturalization is available to many lawful permanent residents who meet certain requirements, but every situation is different. Some clients are confident they qualify and simply want guidance through the process. Others need help evaluating whether they’re eligible before they file.
Our naturalization clients include:
- Green Card holders who have lived in the United States for several years
- Individuals married to U.S. citizens seeking a faster path to citizenship
- Applicants with concerns about past travel, taxes, or legal history
- Those who previously applied and were delayed or denied
- Long-time residents who are ready to fully establish their future in the U.S.
We take a practical, step-by-step approach to naturalization, focused on making the process easier to understand while helping you avoid common obstacles.
We assist by:
- Reviewing your eligibility and identifying any potential concerns early
- Preparing and organizing your application carefully
- Explaining what to expect at each stage of the process
- Helping you get ready for the interview and citizenship test
- Addressing complications before they become problems
Because our team handles complex immigration matters regularly, we approach every application with attention to detail and a forward-thinking strategy.
When Naturalization Cases Get Complicated
Not every path to citizenship is straightforward. Applicants with a criminal record, even for minor offenses, face heightened scrutiny under the good moral character requirement. Extended travel outside the U.S. can interrupt the continuous residence requirement, and how you document that travel before submitting the N-400 application matters. A prior denial doesn’t permanently close the door, but the reason for it must be understood and resolved before refiling.
Spouses of U.S. citizens may qualify for the three-year path to citizenship rather than the standard five, but the requirements are specific. The applicant must have been living in marital union with the U.S. citizen spouse for at least three years before filing, and the U.S. citizen spouse must have held citizenship throughout that period and must remain a citizen through the date of naturalization. These details require careful review before filing, not after.
Our team includes Krunal Sheth, who served as Assistant Chief Counsel for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security before joining Polaris Law Group. That government-side experience shapes how we evaluate applications and anticipate what USCIS may scrutinize. Tasha Afkhamnejad brings a national perspective as an immigration leader who has represented clients across 34 states, including complex humanitarian and removal-related matters. Together, they bring a depth of insight that goes well beyond standard application preparation.
What You Need to Know Before You File
Applying for citizenship involves more than submitting an application. The process includes a detailed review of your history, background, and time in the United States. Even small issues can lead to delays if left unaddressed.
